Learn about migrating your files with Google’s data migration service
Editing or modifying a file or file permissions in Google Drive during migration can potentially lead to migration errors and difficulty in maintaining file versions. Avoid modifying documents, folders, and shared drives during a migration. Share file creation across multiple accounts to reduce the possibility of errors and improve performance during and after migration, keeping file creation and ownership limited.
Google Drive migration supports various file types and preserves them in their existing format, such as video files, .docx, PDF, and JPEG, among others. Files and folders with restricted permissions, Blocked Download policies, those created by external users outside your organization, and OneDrive folder shortcuts are some of the file types that cannot be migrated to Drive.
